What People in South Africa Believe when It Comes to a Zombie

South Africa has a few cultures where the people harbor a specific idea when it comes to a zombie. People from these communities have believed that zombies can be created out of a dead body by small children. They also believe that if you wish to break this spell, in order to do so, you must have a sangoma that is powerful enough.

In other parts of South Africa, the people believe in witches and they think that these witches kill people and then turn the dead bodies into zombies because they are so powerful that they can possess their victim’s body and force the victim to become their slave labor. There was a time when rail lines had been under construction and once they were built, they were used to move migrant workers…this is when stories started to float around about something that people called “witch trains”. The witch train was an ordinary appearing train, only it was staffed by workers who were actually all zombies being controlled by this certain witch. These trains would kidnap people who boarded the train at night & this person would either become one of the zombie workers, or he/she would be beaten & then thrown out of the train.

Paramount Chooses Funtactix As Creator of Film Based Web Games

Funtactix is now the official producer of virtual worlds for Paramount Digital Entertainment. The web games will be based on movies created by Paramount Films.

And the First Release Is

The first game Funtactix is releasing for Paramount is “Rango: The World”, based on the upcoming movie “Rango”, an animated film featuring the voice of Johnny Depp. The movie and the game will both be released on March 4, 2011.

“Rango” is a computer-animated comedy about a chameleon, voiced by Johnny Depp, which is transported from his modern day terrarium home to the days of the Old West. He winds up in a rough frontier town named Dirt where all the resident desert creatures wear garb that looks like it came right out of a spaghetti western.

The Plot

Since Rango has always thought himself the hero-type, it only seems natural for the colorful creature to take on the role of lawman. Unbeknownst to Rango, however, the good guys in Dirt don’t usually fare so well. In fact, there’s a cemetery full of them there. But being a chameleon, Rango does his best to blend in wherever he goes. His time in Dirt eventually has him questioning everything about himself.

“Rango: The World” will be one of the online multiplayer 3D games that allows players to interact with the film’s characters and create their own characters as well, giving players a chance to personalize their experience in the immersive environment.

Funtactix is a New York based company with development studios in Los Angeles, Tel Aviv, and Jerusalem. It was founded in 2006 and financially backed by Jerusalem Venture Partners.

Gamers chat rooms are abuzz with anticipation as they await the premiere of “Rango: The World” from Funtactix. Since the game and the movie come out the same day, the big question is which do you do first… see the movie or buy the game?

Movies with popcorn can be fun too with a favourite at sleepovers being scary movies just before bed. If you do choose a scary movie make sure it isn’t going to scare the children TOO much, so try and choose a film that is age appropriate.
